The GRAMMY Museum is pleased to welcome hit-making songwriter/producer Claudia Brant and legendary producers Cheche Alara and Moogie Canazio to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate conversation on her prolific songwriting career and the release of her new album SINCERA, followed by a rare live performance on Thursday November 29.
Since moving to California in 1998, native Argentinian Claudia Brant has established an average of 40 cuts per year in different genres and languages including Spanish, Portuguese, and English. She has been nominated for 5 Latin GRAMMYs as a songwriter, artist, and producer, and she won a Latin GRAMMY for Song of the Year in 2009. Billboard named Claudia’s song “No Me Doy Por Vencido,” recorded by Luis Fonsi, Song of the Decade after holding the #1 spot on the Latin Charts for a record 19 consecutive weeks. She has collaborated with the biggest names in the industry from Bruno Mars and Dianne Warren, to David Foster, Julia Michaels and many more, while the list of artists that have recorded her songs includes Camila Cabello, Carlos Santana, Jessie Reyez, John Legend, Luis Fonsi, Natalia Jimenez, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, and numerous others.
Her new album Sincera, out now, boldly explores many aspects of Brant's storied life and musical influences. Recorded at East West Studios in Los Angeles, the album features nine Brant originals and was produced by the legendary Ezequiel “Cheche” Alara and Antonio "Moogie" Canazio. Deemed an ‘instant’ classic in the lines of artists ranging from Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra to Caetano Veloso and Joao Gilberto, the album includes duets with Antonio Carmona, Alex Cuba, La Marisoul Hernandez and Arnaldo Antunes. Musicians include well-known players such as Torcuato Mariano (electric guitar), Carlitos del Puerto (bass), Vinnie Colaiuta (drums), Rafael Padilla (percussion) and Harry Kim (trumpet).
Brant currently serves as a National Trustee for The Recording Academy (LA chapter). She was also named VP West Coast of The Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame, where she was inducted in 2016. Brant's most recent collaborations include "Corazón Valiente" and "Sexo Débil" by Victoria La Mala (Roc Nation), "Sola" by Jessie Reyez (Island) and "Lloviendo Alegría" by Malú featuring Alejandro Sanz as well as Josh Groban's "Música del Corazón" and cuts with Kendji Girac, David Bustamante, Natalia Jimenez and Luis Fonsi.
About Cheche Alara:
Cheche Alara is a composer/arranger, producer, music director, conductor and virtuoso keyboardist—a skillset expansive enough to make him “one-stop shopping” for creators. Among those who’ve availed themselves of Alara’s various abilities are Barbra Streisand, Natalia Lafourcade, Christina Aguilera, Mike Patton, Lady Gaga, Alejandro Sanz and Colbie Caillat. He’s been brought in to produce Natalia Lafourcade’s Latin GRAMMY winning "Musas" Vol. 1 & 2, Thalia’s "Habítame Siempre" and Il Volo’s "Grande Amore"; to serve as Musical Director at the GRAMMYs Premiere Ceremony, the Latin GRAMMYs, and galas for Caetano Veloso and Placido Domingo; to lead Mike Patton’s Mondo Cane orchestra, penning arrangements and playing keys; and to score projects like The Titan Games for NBC, Death by Magic for Netflix and To Tell the Truth for ABC. Barbra Streisand invited him on tour as keyboardist, and then tasked him to arrange and record the opening and closing sequences for the production of the tour’s 2017 Netflix special.
About Moogie Canazio:
Moogie’s first professional recording industry job in LA was at Kendun Recorders, in Burbank California, in 1980 where he worked as an assistant engineer for a number of the top producers/engineers like Bruce Swedien, John Stronach, Kent Duncan, etc. He soon became the staff engineer at Kendun Recorder, a position very much in demand by anyone in the LA music scene. Now a record producer and recording engineer with many years of experience Moogie Canazio has had the privilege of collaborating with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, like Ray Charles, Sarah Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Dianna Ross, Tom Jobim, Sergio Mendes, João Gilberto, Luis Miguel, Caetano Veloso, Maria Bethânia, Dionne Warwick, Ivan Lins, Luiz Miguel, Melody Gardot and many, many others. Moogie has over 18 GRAMMY nominations, 2 Emmy nominations, has won 7 GRAMMYs and Latin GRAMMYs as well as several of the top industry awards.
